Park Home Resident of the Year Award 2016

14 November 2016|Paul Baker

The winner of the 2016 Park Home Resident of the Year Award, sponsored by Paul Baker Insurance Services (PBIS) has been announced.
The award, which is in its first year, attracted a significant number of entries via Park Home News and Park Home & Holiday Caravan magazines, the winner was Peter Blakeway, a resident of Lower Lodge Residential Park in Armitage. Peter has been Chairman of the Lower Lodge Park Resident’s Association for 6 years and has worked tirelessly on behalf of everyone on the park, above and beyond what is expected of any person in his position according to Charles and Anne Gunby who nominated Peter.
As well as leading negotiations with the site owner regarding annual rent increases, electricity and water charges Peter is always on hand to help individual residents  in their hour of need. He is also Chairman the Armitage with Handsacre Local Neighbourhood Plan and is very proud of the part the park plays within its local community. The prize was a weekend in Cheltenham but instead Peter decided to take a cash award of £250 which he and his wife are putting towards a big holiday.
Charles and Anne Gunby who made the winning nomination were entitled to a £100 prize but asked that it be donated to the park resident’s association which was a lovely gesture. The picture below shows Paul Baker presenting the prize cheque to winner Peter Blakeway and nominators Charles and Anne Gunby.

The award was presented to Peter at the nearby Plum Pudding restaurant where around 70 residents enjoyed a fantastic coffee and cake celebration, and the cakes were delicious!
Commenting on the awards Paul Baker from PBIS said:
"We introduced these awards to recognise the significant contribution many residents make to the quality of life of so many residents on parks all over the country, I was delighted with the large number of nominations we received although it did make selecting the winner extremely difficult because they were all deserving of the award. Never the less Peter is a very worthy winner of the inaugural award and it was a lovely gesture by Charles and Anne to donate their prize to their association. All in all the award has proved to be a huge success, I am already looking forward to next year’s nominations!"
